After graduation

- in-depth knowledge of, and training in, current techniques widely used in diagnostic and research laboratories
- the ability to search and interpret the research literature in infection and immunity
- a thorough understanding of the principles of infection control, and practice in their application
- an appreciation of laboratory management strategies
- knowledge of the current regulatory environment, particularly in the areas of laboratory safety, containment of infectious organisms and quarantine
- effective skills in problem-solving and self-directed learning, and
- an understanding of research project planning and analysis.
